New and Noteworthy

The People's Office - this newly designed area of the library contains wireless, laptop computers with business and learning software and is available for use by job seekers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and adult learners. Software packages include: Microsoft Office 2007, Encarta, Ultimate Business Planner, Coffee Cup HTML Editor, and Rosetta Stone: English and Spanish versions.

At Albemarle, there are four stationary laptops for use on the main floor. There are also three laptops available for use at the Locust branch. Rosetta Stone software is available only on the four stationary laptops at Albemarle.

Adults 18 years of age or older are eligible to use the People's Office for job searching, small business operations, and adult learning. In addition, a photo ID will be required to use the three laptops for checkout in Locust. See any library staff member for assistance in using the People's Office.

The People's Office has been made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the State Library of North Carolina. Additional funding has been provided by Stanly County.
