HOW DO I

Get a Library Card?
You can get a library card at any of our branch locations or you can Register Online. If you are a Stanly County resident, there is no charge for your first library card. All out-of-county residents will be charged an annual fee; $25 for an individual or $40 for a family. You will need to have proof of current mailing address with you to pick up your card. This can be any form of ID with your mailing address or a recent piece of mail you've received with your name and address on it. If you register online, your registration will be forwarded to the library and you may pick up your library card at the branch specified during the registration process. If you have lost your card and need a replacement, there will be a $2.00 fee.

Check My Account?
If you have a valid Library Card, you have a Library Account. To access your account, you will need the library card number and a password. Passwords are assigned by the library staff at any library location. Log in by using the My Account link on the toolbar near the top of the page. Next, enter your Barcode Number (located on your library card) & Password and click on Log In. You can then renew items, change your password, turn on a reading list, view and edit requests, and view fines.

Volunteer?
Volunteers are an important addition to the staff of the Stanly County Public Library. They may perform a variety of tasks such as shelving books, processing new materials, repairing damaged books, reading during storytime, delivering materials to our homebound patrons, etc. We welcome volunteers and if you would like to commit a certain amount of time every week we'd love to have you. Our Volunteer Brochure provides all of the details. If you would like to volunteer for homebound delivery, drop off a completed application at any of our library locations.

Access the Internet?
Public internet computers are located at every library location. The computers are managed by a PC Reservation system and you will need a valid library card to log on. The system accepts both first-come first-serve users and reservations. Reservations will need to be made from within the library buildings and can only be made a maximum of one day in advance. Printing, at a cost of 10 cents per page, is available at all library locations.

For anyone under 18, a signed parental permission form must be on file at the library before you can access the Internet.

Connect with Wireless?
Wi-Fi (high-speed wireless Internet access) is now available at all locations of the Stanly County Public Library. Library patrons can bring their own wireless-enabled laptops, notebooks or other mobile devices to the library and have free, instant access to the World Wide Web. Please be aware that printing is not available. As with most public wireless “hot spots,” the library’s wireless connection is not secure and you should exercise caution in transmitting any personal information.

The library’s network is open to all visitors and no special settings or passwords are needed.  Most laptops, equipped with 802.11b or 802.11g wireless networking, come automatically configured to pick up the wireless signal. The display name or (SSID) of the library’s wireless network is SCLG-Public.
